10 week old silkie gender check.

Now let me ask this.....what color is he, I thought as a chick he was a splash based on pictures I saw on some top silkie websites....now not sure if he is a blue or a splash.....any thoughts folks.
If he is a splash he is very minimal as only lighter coloring is on neck and little on chest but seems darker beneath those lighter feathers. So I am leaning a blue. Came from a mixed batch of silkie eggs my friend bought.

Well the gender has now been revealed......ITS A BOY!

First crow started this morning at 600 am. Thanks everyone.
Glad you know for sure now and thanks for letting us know what sex it turned out to be.

I still, after reading and looking up stuff, cannot look at pictures and figure out if one is male or female of this breed. Guess this newbie will stick with ISA Browns and White Leghorns for a while, before adventuring into the "exotics" breeds of chickens. :)

The real look to me and I am a newbie with silkies...other breeds seem easy in comparison.....is that crest sweeping towards the back. At 11 weeks that comb which was flat started to rise a bit from a depression in the middle to a small lump in the middle and back part which parted the crest more to the sides of that makes sense. I did notice more hard feathers in the wings became evident and a higher head carriage.

Of course those are my observations. I am really good sexing many breeds, but this one was a real stumper until that crow confirmed all suspicions.

Nice that there are so many on this forum to help us newbies see the subtle differences between male and female silkie chickens. I believe them to be one of the hardest to guess gender under 12 weeks old.

Appreciate everyone input. Still learning after all these years.

Hmm... I would say either blue or grey would be fitting. I have seen ones who favor him called both. He is a handsome guy! 🤗
Silkies are such a hard call. You've mastered others, you'll get this one too. It might sound crazy-- but one of the tells I look for is how the poof falls in the chicken's eyes. Most of the pulleys look like they are lost under the fluff! It's just a little beak-- you can't really see her eyes. They have a cottonball roundness. The cockerels have more of a Fonzie (old Happy Days reference 😆 sorry) and it's shape is more... mullet almost 😂-- and because he has that nice walnut comb, you can see his eyes-- a little bit. 😆
Not my chickens, but good examples --
This one can hardly see. Her head is very round, smooth.

this girl too! look how her little head almost looks like a pom pom! 🤗

now this guy here-- look at how he is missing the round fluff, the smoothness, but he does have little streamers! Look how straight he stands, too, just like your little guy!
