100 Broilers and Fermented Feed Project

They are 24".
Ya, you notice as they get used to everything the eating will definitely pick up. I started with a 3 inch PVC single feeder in a brooder and changed brooders Three times before figuring out what worked lol
Started with small box brooder for layer chicks Bahaha waaaay to small.

Then had a huge brooder with a wood bottom and
Single feeder. Was roomy but the feeder was crammed full at feeding time...after a week

Now...we have a wire bottom 2 feeders and made it so the feeder raise up with wire so we can fill them without a mob of peeps.

Ok. I have 3 feeders in 1 brooder and 1 feeder in the other 2 brooders. One of the feeders is 4 1/2 feet long and 4 1/2 inches wide. That's probably why it's taking them so long to eat the FF. I think I'll only fill up to the 2 feet mark.

Great setup!

I add ACV. I also add vitamins for 3 days after arrive since Crook. Her upsidedown head research I did pointed to a vitamin B deficiency...vitamins helped but I dunno if that was the issue...she has a few issues lol

Has anyone put ACV in the water for your meat birds? I'm thinking of add a little bit in.

I always add ACV for the other birds but wasn't sure about meaties. Thanks.

With the low temps, I will bringing them all in the house at night and put them in the brooder in the back room and in the morning, allow them to go back to their brooder in the garage.
Funny, we are warmer than you are today!!!

Really good to add it in the winter, not in the summer. There is something it does in the summer... I can't remember though... I'll get back to you on that... I use electrolytes (stress aid) in summer on hot days - which would be nothing to you guys.
I wish I had you all's warm weather right about now . Tonight will be horrible.

14??????????????????????? OUCH !!!!!!!!!

You can keep that cold weather.

Oh man, that's nothing!! That is light jacket weather!

It was 20 for high on Sunday and I was without hat and mitts. Beautiful sunny day :)

No jacket at all needed in today's temps.

We are hardcore. But you give us 90 degrees and we are seriously naked all the time. Barn chores in our underwear. NOT joking.

Finally got AC. This summer will be easy :D

The insulated barn does wonders in both the summer and the winter. Keeps it cool and keeps it warm(ish)!

All of the babies were doing great this morning . I moved everyone until the cold weather passes. I had to fill up their gallon waterers for the first time . I put in fresh FF this morning and 1 group raced to get it. It was so funny. All were alert and running around . No losses yet. I will be weighing my target broilers today after I paint their toenails so that I can get accurate weights on the 3 different sizes (S, M, L). I will try to weigh them ever 3 days to see how much weight they have gained. This weekend will be nice, so I will let all 100 out to roam around. If no one's busy this weekend, I could use some help with that. :lau

Oh man... I hope you have a net to catch them at dusk ;)

It took me a full week to have them going back into their pen at night.

Here is their indoor outdoor access. :)

I would carry 90 chicks to bed every night. Took me forever...

I just taunt the with food and they follow me anywhere. Lol today my kids were like nope too cold mom. So for chicks dinner time i locked myself in the coop to feed them while most were outside lol
