100 Broilers and Fermented Feed Project

Ok, so how big of a chicken tractor would I need to build for 50 broilers in 1 tractor and 49 broilers in another tractor? - Estimating their future size and weight at 8 weeks. I would like to build something that is too big right now but will be perfect at 7 - 8 weeks old.

That guy sultan? I think his name is uses 10x10 for 50. I think that is fine if you are only using it for nighttime use and free range in the day. He however, states that he moves the tractor once a day and that is all the room they get. I think that little room would get soiled very quickly if they are contained in it all the time.

Who is sultan?

Who is sultan?
Joel Salatin. He and his family run Polyface Farm in Virginia. He appeared in the "Food Inc." documentary and has several books about his farming methods, including one about raising broilers on pasture in chicken tractors. There are some videos of his tractors in use on YouTube. If you do a search for "mercola and salatin chickens" it should bring up a video of how he moves his. I think he puts about 75 in each tractor. I think that each ones is about 120 square feet (10' x 12').

I found his website but I can't find any pics of the chicken tractor.
