100 Broilers and Fermented Feed Project

And I really don't want to do that many birds. I kinda thought that was a good deal but I wanted to ask the experts on this thread. I think I will take that deal. For that cheap a price, I think I will write up a "agreement" indicating the price he quote and what he will do, so that he doesn't change his mind when he starts on Bird #50, with 49 more birds to go and decides to quit or increase the price.

Yes good idea...

It takes at least 10 minutes minimum per bird even when we get going.. Asked my friend who has been doing it via plucker for years and she can get 10 done an hour (with her and her husband) Even still, that's 10 hours for you.. I think $99 is worth that.

Cool.

The guy said that it would take him 7 hours to do that many birds. For the money, I will spend, I agree with you. It's worth it.

I wonder if he does ducks.

THe price is rediculouly cheap -- around here is $5 per bird.

My suggestion is go with the $1.00 and put that in the contract. Maybe include a "bonus" in the contract if he gets all the birds done.

ANd I hope that you will be able to support him thru the process by having the birds all lined up, remove the feathers so he can keep working, and then you can bag everything to your liking.

Lot of people out there in need of money . . . .

$100 for 7 hours of work =________________

If I could find someone who did it the way I wanted it done, and for that price - I would jump on it! I am very particular.. they need to be treated with a lot of respect. I don't want them carrying them by the legs to the cone one handed.. they are heavy birds.. this can seriously pop their hip out of place.

Also would not want them to be processing any others the same day, and I would have to make sure his area was clean.

Good idea. For that price, I will definitely have everything organized for him. I will make it as easy for him as possible. I will probably send him home with a couple bottles of home made wine. He sounds like he is a wine drinker.

I'm glad you mentioned one little important note here. I need to ask him if he is going to "do the deed" or does he want the deed already done when he gets here or as we go. I think I can get someone to do the deed, so it won't be so much work on him. I won't even ask him about that. then. For $1.00 a bird, I don't want him think that I'm trying to take advantage of him by having him doing that AND plucking and gutting. And as you stated, I don't want him handling them any kind of way.

When you're done with him, can you send him our way?!
