Easy to blame the PO. But without the post office, all we would have are chicks raised locally, or drive ourselves to get them.

That is true, but they could be more careful, If I treated stuff or threw it around at my work like they do, I'd be fired. No excuse for not caring how you treat other people stuff.

Awesome!!

And just how do you expect packages to be sorted? Do you think the PO's have time to delicately walk each and every package to each sortation bin? It is a standard procedure to toss packages to various sortation bins. Postal workers care. They are postal customers, too. Live critters ARE walked delicately through the process, but there's no way your mail can be processed and received in a timely manner without being tossed... Sorry

But on the other hand fragile does not mean to throw harder i think they need camera's system in the post office to catch some of the off the wall stuff that happens to packages. Now before i get toasted here i know for a fact that some people not all people throw packages as hard as they can and far as they can to see if they can make it like basketball now that is FACT. Now on the other hand if those same people went to a lets say wendy's fast food and the person at the counter just threw their bag at them they would get fired whats the difference I paid 10 to 15 dollars to get something fragile shipped and they would pay 8 or 9 bucks for a burger they get paid to do a service not to tear up stuff but then again maybe that is why the post office is going broke

Have you ever worked at a PO? I have for 18 years, and believe me, no-one has any extra energy to 'throw them as hard as they can' . That's just silly. Some packages DO get tossed 15 feet or more, because of the setup of the containers, and the belt that the mail is dumped on (from a height of about 10 feet). But postal workers are just people doing the same job over and over every day and (mostly) night. Put in their 8 or 10 or 12 hours, and go home. But the fact is, to get a piece of mail, whether a letter or parcel from one point to another in the country in a reasonable amount of time requires sometimes 'less than kid glove' handling. And I guess the post office's handling of the mail is the cause of all the auto makers going broke, all the banks going broke, all the brokerage firms going broke, and everthing else wrong with the economy?

Ok guys and gals, I think everyone is being way to touchy about this. If you notice I said post office, not postal workers, it was partly meant as a joke. I am sure there have been packages thrown, I think we will agree there is one in every crowd. But I don't believe this happens very often. I have alot of friends that work in the post office and I believe they all are careful. But When we pay good money to mail something, and it is dumped from a belt, crushed and mark fragile this isn't right. I've worked with 1,000 of parts every day, and none of them got treated like that. I think they need a bin to place the fragile stuff in, as it come down the belt so it doesns't get dropped and smashed by other boxes. There hasn't to be a better way of doing it. Maybe if you work there, you can make some suggestions, on how to it a better way. I know my friends at the post office even agree with me.
