Yay! this is so exciting! My first try hatching eggs. We only had three, but we put them in there and figured out they were fertilized. On hatch day the eggs were wiggling, but nobody came out. I was getting worried because that was on the 10th, but finally on Wednesday night, somebody had internally pipped! I only thought one was going to hatch. This morning when my dad came to accompany me to get my wisdom teeth out, he showed me a picture of the 3 eggs. One had zipped and there was a pip in another. Well, we stopped over to look at them before going to the dental place and the first baby was out! Then, right after I had my teeth out we went to check again. A second baby was out and the third had a pip in it! A couple hours later, Dad came over and told me thethird duckling had hatched, so I rushed over to see!

They're mutt ducks, but SO cute. Two have orange beaks with a black striped down the middle and dark bodies. One of the dark ducks has yellow wings. The third one is yellowy with a black beak and feet. I'll post pictures as soon as they're out of the bator!

I'm just so excited! This totally makes up for having to have my wisdom teeth out today. I was hoping for all 3 to hatch, but didn't really expect it because one had an air sac in the middle of one side of the egg, and I took another out to candle a day ago because I thought it was dead anyway.

So, pictures soon and thanks for reading!

So, this is where the air sac on one of the eggs was:

For these ones, ignore the silly note my brother's friend wrote on that wooden coat rack.

I'm determined to keep these three friendly. The ones we got from McMurray are so afraid of people, even with a lot of handling. I'm going to try keeping these babies inside for a little while so I can give them extra attention.

I'm intrigued by their markings! Each one looks so unique and adorable. Does anybody know what color the lighter one might be when s/he grows feathers? They'e either Khaki x Pekin, or Khaki x Blue runner. I'm thinking they're all Khaki x Pekin... Unless our runner is actually female. I'm not sure.

I love ducklings. And chicks. But I am especially fond of duckies. They just look so cute with their little bitty bills and matching webbed feet! Yours are really, really cute. Smoochy, huggy cute!

I have four Cayuga ducklings in a brooder in my bathroom, plus 3 older call ducklings in another brooder, and some chicks in two more brooders. Although all 7 of the ducklings run like crazy to get to the other sides of their brooders when I reach into them, they always peep loudly only AFTER I exit the bathroom. I re-enter, they go quiet, except for little mumblies. And they do that head bob, extend the neck to peek over the edge of the brooder at me.

Thanks for the comments.

I'm thinking of setting up an indoor brooder with a big tupperware container. I've heard that those work well.
