I will usually try something that smells okay, I love most food and do try new things. but if it smells bad never mind I will pass. Now my oldest son would try it just to say he did it...

I can eat Nato (fermented soybeans in a sushi roll), but can't get past the dead ducky idea to try balut.
I make goat cheese, and Humboldt Fog is the only kind I actually buy (no way I can make that in my kitchen) http://www.cypressgrovechevre.com/cheeses/ripened-cheeses/humboldt-fog.html Yummm! But it's ~$25/lb so I only buy an ounce or two at a time. A little goes a long way.
How 'bout Chorizo?

It's been about 20 years since i've been in your neck of the woods but there used to be great food to be had. Lets pick a Friday night, grab a couple beers and go exploring for "different" foods. So what if we end up in jail, your wife won't speak to you, kids say "dad who", neighbors keep the shades closed. It will be fun......... besides I owe you a favor.

Balut is pretty popular. I have several friends that think it is delicious. My sister in law is Chinese and loves balut. Balut isn't eggs that won't hatch, instead it is fertilized duck eggs that would hatch if they were incubated longer.

I went to china for two weeks in January. I did not try balut, dog, cat or other "delicacies" but i did try many dishes that I think are much less apatizing. I would eat balut, snail, dog cat or anything else long before I would eat many of the things I did eat while I was there. I guess ya live and learn.

It was so weird having every piece of meat I ate in china had a bone in it. Also every animal that we ate, the head, feet, and skin was also served on the table. Bejing Duck is amazing and everyone should try it. Bejing duck is a very popular dish because it is all the same in the whole huge city. But whoever thought that the duck feet, and the head were things to put on a serving platter and then chew on were out of their minds. My sister in law was chewing on the bill and says mmmm tasty. YUK! lol
