43. they give me and my kids a reason to get up in the morning... they give last week's gross leftovers a good burial, and they are natural born decorators.

They bring back fond memories of when I was a child at Grandma's.

Grandma would give me food to feed her chickens and then I would collect the eggs. Breakfast was always fantastic at Grandma's. It was great to wake up to the smell of bacon and eggs cooking.

Now, I am hoping I can make memories for my children and 4 grandkids.

My 7 year old daughter

loves to collect the eggs when she comes home from school. And, on the weekends it's my grandkids job to collect them.

I've even had my twin 5 year old nephews

collect them and of course they had to take them home in a basket.

It's so much fun to see the expressions on their faces as they gather the eggs and pet the chickens.

Haha! Yes, I first got chickens after Ivisited some friends in Costa Rica and they had chickens and so, every morning, I'd go out and collect the eggs! Good memories!
