11 Week old Splash Ameraucana

I hatched this guy/gal from hatching eggs that I purchased from an Ameraucana breeder who bred BBS Ameraucana. I saw the parent birds. Breed purity isn’t in question. But this is the only one that hatched out of 31 eggs. No joke.

Anyway, is this copper leakage normal at this age, or any age of Splash Ameraucana?

The beard and muffs look dirty because we have had torrential rains for a couple weeks. I’m out here doing mud management and noticed the copper on his/her back.

This is fantastic news! I was hoping I had a cockerel. I have 4 beautiful splash Marans pullets and they will make some gorgeous splash olive egger babies! Thank you!!

It will get worse as his feathers come in.
