Am I correct? Dominique hen? (I know the others are buff orphington's, lol - I ordered from Murray McMurray and Gizmo was my freebie!) My boys are really hoping Gizmo is a boy, but I'm not too sure... wouldn't the tail feathers be longer at this point? Thanks!!

Barred Rocks, with which the Doms are often confused, have single combs, while the Dominique has a rose comb. Could not see close enough in the photos, but assuming it has a rose comb, the light color and thick legs suggest a cockerel. The barring is crisp in the photos.

What is needed is to know the age of the bird, and a few better closeup photos.

cockerel no doubt...if they are allowed I would keep him...he will protect your girls when free ranging...and I promise there will not be chicks in the eggs if you collect them daily

LOL, thanks!!! Yes, Gizmo defintely has a rose comb and I am was excited to tell the boys that he's a cockerel. We'll definitely keep him! The girls all flock around him and he's not nearly as friendly as the girls are. Thanks for your help!! Here are a couple more pictures that I just took. Gizmo is hard to get pictures of, lol!

his is pretty!!! and he will only get prettier as he grows
