Rule # 6 makes it sound like you can put in a max bid and it will bid up to that amount... It places your highest bid and that's that. As for the warning, I must agree with pretty much everybody else. I saw that warning & was turned off from the auction.

Unless they've changed the auctions here the last time I bid on something, it doesn't automatically up your bid when you bid on something. Whatever $ amount you put in that bid box is the amount you are bidding.

So say you bid $55 on this auction - the winning amount will be $55, it doesn't make your bid $50.01 - your bid would be $55 and that's what you'd be paying.

I guess you will all just have to wait for him to explain himself.

I really don't understand why it's even a debate. He's basically just saying he won't accept bid increments of less than $1. And, I understand that. My last auction, my eggs only sold for 1 cent more than what I started them at. It was a disappointment, to say the least, but it was also a lesson to me that from now on, I'll not start my eggs out for less than what I want out of them.

You would understand better if you saw his last auction and I actually agree with him. Basicly what he is saying is that these little penny bids get agrevating when it has taken him several years and lots of money to get his projects to where they are now, so if you are serious about wanting these eggs, you should bid generously and not play around with the little penny bids. It is understandable that you would want to get them at the lowest price possible, but the buyer needs to consider what he has put into them and $50 as a starting price is already a pretty good deal for a new variety. I would also be upset or even insulted if someone just bid a few cents over the starting/last bid. So with his auction, as long as you bid in one dollar increments as he asked, $50, $51, $52, etc.. if you have the winning bid, you wouldn't have to worry about old eggs. It's simple.

Some people on his last auction were saying that sometimes with people they know, they would would just bid a penny or so more just to kid around with them, but I think that bids, especially for these kind of eggs, should be more serious.

No if the first bidder bids 50 then the second bidder bids 50.01 because they want to get these awesome birds for the cheapest price they can that is a 99 cent difference between 50.01 and 51 and if you have put the last several years into a project and people are goofing around and not being serious then at least i would take it for an insult like Rareroo said. and if your not going to bid on these eggs the just dont post and leave it be its not your problem.

Dang folks, take it easy here. Posted this this afternoon and took the wife to town, just got back.

I was just trying to relay the fact that I was less than impressed with the penny bids on here, carrying over from the first auction, I thought with a little humor. Never was big on using the smiley face thingy, apparently I should consider looking into that.

Don't sweat the freshness of the eggs, I would never send anything but my best. But lets just say the + of 12+ may be dependant on your bid.

Really? And have you seen the interest that the "shark auctions" drum up? Have you noted that there have been few that went for less then $50 for sometimes as few as 1/2 dozen eggs? You'd give yourself a negative reputation over a one cent bid? If that's the case then you're in this for the wrong reasons IMHO. I rarely get up on the "soap-box" but if you're worried about a 1 cent bid maybe you need to list your eggs at the lowest price your willing to accept. To auction is a risk in the first place. To send old eggs to someone that legally won an auction and is spending their hard earned cash in this horrible economy is deplorable.

I think some of you are blowing this way out of proportion, just simply bid in one dollar increments from the begining and you wouldn't have anything to worry about.
