That is very true of the DC's. When you pick them up it's like picking up a brick, they are that solid and muscular. Even as chicks they are much heavier than others we have like Buff Orps or RIR's. ( shhhhhhh but I use that as a selling point at chick sales - "you want a meat bird, here pick up one of these")

. Moodychicken described them as "not smart" and I will have to disagree with that, they are as smart as any other we have - but then again how smart is a chicken? They are good foragers and hardy/healthy.
