Oh all right

but I am glad you mentioned it so know one else thought they had white feathers. Oh and I did want to add that this is a very old strain that have the pearly legs that have a touch of rusty red on them. I was told that the very old strain was like that. If some one knows more about the older strains I would love to know more. Some do have a light tinge of yellow legs since I added another show strain to them a while back to improve their laying qualities. Just what to be sure and let everyone know that they don't have the real yellow legs like the standards calls for.

NO THEY ARE NOT PRODUCTION REDS!!! Production Reds are a lighter red, which some people call them RI Reds. Mine are 100% ALL DEEP DARK MAHOGANY RED EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!!! They have won at AR State Fair just not by me, but I hope to remedy that come Oct 2011! They have wonderful type because I work hard to only keep the best type in my breeding pen. The culls go into another pen where we sell eating eggs in our neighborhood and also to friends at church. The eggs you receive if you win will ONLY come from that breeding pen. I haven't had anyone yet complain about them and usually they contact me for more. If you don't believe me about my birds I can give you a few judges names who love them and can verify me and my breeding program with my TRUE HERITAGE RI REDS! Thank you for looking and I hope I clarified a little more about them.

Here are more pictures taken of a 7 month old cockerel and 6 month old pullets I entered as a young trio at the Yell County Fair. The only birds that have been added to this strain was my original RI Reds from Murray McMurray over 13 years ago and those original hens were crossed with 2 of George's Roosters, then the next year the best of the F1 pullets were crossed back to the original roosters again. The next year is when George passed away and I was given all of George's flock and been working to improve them since then. The last picture is of Grandma, she is one of the last original hens I got from George's flock 10 years ago. She still looks pretty good for her age even with all the mud on her LOL!

The kid is mouthy. I really like your birds & I doubt the infusion of two hatchery birds 13 years ago would affect your strain especially with you culling & selecting the way I see you do. In fact, it would have helped in upping egg production. You will always get people who can argue with themselves. I believe that your birds & their quality are doing all the arguing for you

Thank you Danischi24, but missed what he said last. We were out playing with the birds, doesn't matter though it doesn't upset me one bit to each their own. I would love to see pics of your hairless chicken. I saw one the other day that was bred by Keith Bramwell, Ph.D. of the University of Arkansas. That was the funkiest chicken I had ever seen. All black skin looked like a Jurassic Chicken LOL! I took pics of it with my cell phone, I'll have to download it and share it sometime. Truely a site to behold poor critter LOL!

They sure look like production birds to me. They sure look like production birds to me. A male Rhode Island Red's tail should be 20 degrees above horizontal. Those bird's tails are close to 90 degrees. The females tails are pinced where they should be well spread. They all have white legs which should be yellow and their colour is much too light. These are only the more obvious flaws.
