12 LF Salmon Faverolles hatching eggs from Oklahoma

what's your hatch success with shipping long distance? do you sell hatchign eggs for other breeds?

My shipping hatch rate is 75 to 85 percent. I have never had a broken egg, nor any detatched air cells. I pack my eggs, like I would like to receive them. I also have Mottled Black Java eggs, that I sell.

If you don't mind me asking, how suited are Javas to heat? I'm looking to create a flock of historic American birds and I've read that Javas are some of the oldest and also very rare and at risk of loss. So I'd love to hatch some. But we live in the high desert where we have extreme temps. In the winter many nights are in 20s while days are 60s; in the summer days may be in the low 100s (tho rarely above 110 and usually 95-105) while nights are 70s.

My larger hens now seem to suffer a bit in the heat. What's your opinionon on the Java's suitability to this climate? They do free range during the day, and can usually seek out a shady to bush ....

Also, could I place an order for shipping in late March? I'm afraid my son has filled my incubator for now!

Well, they actually do very well in high heat climate. I am in Oklahoma and our last two summers were brutally hot. My Javas and Salmon Faverolles are just over a year old. So they got to experience this last drought season (which some refer to as summer. lol). They all did amazingly and I haven't lost one this year to heat. Our temps got up to 115 degrees. They are in a shaded coop with access to an open air pen with roofing, so they were able to be shaded all day. They started laying in the last part of August and have been rocking and a rolling right on through the heat. They also do very well in confinement as well as excellent free rangers. The hens do brood and are excellent mothers.

Of course, whenever you get ready for some eggs, just give me a holler and I will collect them fresh for you.

Handsome birds! Gotta love the faverolles what an awesome breed. How are the toes on yours?

The toes are correct. I have only had one crooked toed baby in over 100 hatched.

I think Henry means how is the placement on the 4th and 5th toes.

I am sorry, I should have elaborate more when I said they are correct. They all have the correct amount of 5 toes, all seperated. Good feathering on their feet as well.
