12 Week Old Chicks

I have four 12 week old chicks that I'd like place with my adults birds. Will allowing the chicks access to layer feed cause problems?

Yes.

Much too young for a bird not depositing 2 grams of calcium in an egg shell every day to be consuming a diet of 4% calcium.

There is a type of feed called All Flock. You can feed it to all your chickens, but you'll need to provide oyster shells for your layers.

Feed everyone starter, grower or all-no-one. Offer your layers oyster shell and they will self regulate their calcium intake. Easiest way to manage a multi-age or gender flock.
