12 wk old chick drowned

I have chickens, ducks and turkeys. Usually the chickens and the ducks are in seperate areas. I left the duck pen open so the ducks could go to bed in the evening. One of my new chicks was found floating the the small duck pond. Very sad. Now I leave the gate closed and put the ducks up myself. FYI.

I'm so sorry... The one good thing is you learned this one by only losing one chick... it could have been much worse.

That's why I keep a stick in my trough. The chickens usually stay on edge, but I've seen them have to use the (safety stick) to get out.

i cant bekeive that happened with a 12 week old. how deep was it?
