12th Annual 2021 BYC New Year's Day Hatch-Along!

Pics
i’ve had relatively good luck with all types of shipped eggs....i don’t think it’s size of the egg as much as the care and experience of the shipper. my worst experiences have been with button eggs. they have had saddled air cells every time.
Packing is key with shipped eggs!

Out of my six free eggs I for sure saw 3 with veins!! I’m sure the others had some but I candled them in the living room with lights on so I’ll candle all tonight in my bathroom to double check.

So exciting!! It feels like the first time I incubated eggs. Minus the 24/7 candling that is.

All New Years eggs going strong. Pita Pintas and Bresse

Refrigerated grocery store eggs started on 19th are very hard to see in. 5 of 6 appear to have started.
Very fun!
I've done my own refrigerated eggs with a fairly high degree of success, but the year I tried Trader Joe's eggs, they didn't develop. Made me wonder if they were truly fertile.

My Trader Joe’s hatched well. White eggs. However the hens laid funny shaped eggs and they were very hyper. This bunch is a real dark brown egg.
I may have set more Bresse and Pita Pintas. The incubator is full.
