Okay, I have a question.. I have one chick from an EE that is gray.. and one white with blackish/gray patches here and there. Is it possible that the gray one will be lavender, and the other a splash?View attachment 2602494View attachment 2602495
I see feathers on one of the feet. They are mixed with a feather footed breed?

I do not think they will feather out lavender.

Well, D'oh.. Mom does have leg feathering... :lau

I had 7 Hedemora eggs hatch, been trying to make time to snap a few pictures of them, they are absolutely adorable, but just been a busy week here. They hatched right on time. None of the UConn eggs hatched, only one made it to lockdown.
I’m sorry about the quitters. I had the chance to keep Hedemora chicks for a week several Easters ago. I was part of a chain to get them to their final destination. They are cute.

I think one or both of my remaining eggs may have quit. 🥺 The one due on the 8th no longer has visible veins and was not moving when I candled just now. I think I saw some movement and veining in the one due on the 10th, but couldn't be sure with these dark shells. I locked them both down anyway, of course. Here's hoping! :fl

16 have made it out so far. 6 of the mixed eggs and 10 marans. Of the mixes I have 5 blues and 1 yellow chick from butter. I did not think it was possible to get yellow from a black copper x buff. Now here is the part that makes me want to bang my head into a wall. Mom really wanted to do this cross to get her "perfect" chicken. The pale yellow of butter with the marans feathered legs. I thought this side project would take several generations to even get the yellow coloring so when it hatched a hour ago my jaw hit the floor. But, out of 16, 15 have feathered feet. The one clean leg chick, is of course the yellow one. Butter's other egg just externally pipped so at this point who knows what it will end up looking like, but now that we know its possible, praying for another yellow and this time with feathered feet.
