Just do your best to make your breeding pens rat proof (1/2 inch steel mesh). I’ve 10 pens but less than 2 dozen clean fertile eggs because the rats haven’t been completely excluded yet

:barnie:th
However I have a few clean eggs for the incubator.

Advice please: What should I do with the dirty eggs? Finish filling the incubator with dirty eggs or destroy them?

You can gently clean them. I have done so with shipped eggs that arrived like that. No harm, I just gently wipe off with a damp paper towel, best I can trying not to remove the bloom.

:clap:clap May the hatch be with you!
First thing this morning and I'm already cracking up again. :caf
Well, I guess I’m right on time to set eggs! I have my first broody. Not sure how many eggs she has yet, I’m about to count them.
Please be sure and mark your broody eggs with a sharpie and check the nest daily to collect any fresh eggs deposited.. if she has other layers in with her.. in order to prevent a staggered hatch. :thumbsup
The wait for noon to set is maddening!:lau
Especially once I realized noon has already come for the East coast! :ya

Actually, it'll probably take me that long to finish getting eggs ready.. labeling, etc.

My house is also only 60 ish degrees.. and putting so many eggs in at one time definitely drops bator temp for bit. I have been considering putting them on top of a heating pad double boiler style.. BUT, they WILL be set regardless. YAY! :drool

I have a heated reptile room. So I put eggs in there the day of set usually. But I'm also only setting 2 eggs 🤣
