 At this rate I'm going to have 7 dozen. I'm trying to come up with a plan so don't end up setting ALL of them. Heifer is acting like she wants to go broody, so I think I'm going to give her a few eggs and see what she does. Game breeds have been some of the best broodies I've ever had.

Heifer is a standard oeg and she earned her name.

Lol! That's a LOT of eggs!

RON...now....post it now. You know what I'm talking about!
Set all the eggs! 2.jpeg

 That's not even the most I've incubated at a time. In a previous EHAL I had over 100 eggs in a hovabator. I'm trying not to do that again. Viability was pretty bad with that many eggs stacked on top of each other. I had to tilt the whole bator side to side for turning.

I just peeked at the older refrigerator Polkie eggs and I'm STUNNED right now. These eggs have been washed and kept in the fridge for 3 weeks some possibly even 4 weeks and I see development in most of them already, lol! I was expecting maybe 30%...I'm only questioning about 4 of these eggs right now and it's only day 3. 😅 I better get ready for a very full brooder. lol

Long term storage of hatching eggs is best refrigerated.

Washing the eggs does not hurt the hatch rate and can help it. Hatcheries wash their eggs.

There will be a delay in hatch time-- a bit longer-- with the older eggs. You could see a day or so with the oldest. The hatch will likely be more drawn out than normal.

Thank you for the heads up! I've followed other fridge hatches but this will be my first! ;)
