Oi cwap. Addled? Or infertile? For all of those having trouble with the refrigerator eggs, I have a very important question. Are you 100% sure you didn’t shake them between the nest, the counter, the sink, the refrigerator, and to the incubator?
Complete turns will cause a bad hatch rate, shaking will, and touching with dirty/lotioned hands will.
Peanut butterAre you hatcing silkies?. I miss that. You have a very good points here. I'll add to the washing hands, as to the why. If you've put lotion on your hands, needs to come off. If you've sprayed perfume on your wrist, needs to come off. Other things come into importance for washing hands. Did you get some peanut butter on your hands while eating that sandwich?

Yep silkies!Something I miss. Hatching silkies. We tore down the small breed pen. I may try getting one to go with my flock this year..if I can find any. View attachment 2581112View attachment 2581115

I always let mine settle, so that couldn't be the problem for some of mineWell...I think I found out why they were not developing. Maybe it’s because I did not let the eggs settle pointing end down for at least 12 hours...I did the opposite.
I'm sorryI ended up not setting eggs. I really wanted to but there was no interest in my barnyard mixes so my husband asked to not hatch out anymore since we will have to raise the ones we hatched out a week ago.![]()
Here in Arkansas, it's a sauna too. Saw this a couple of years ago, describes it pretty well, I think.

Not all all trying to argue...I'm just really curious so sorry if it's coming across that way, But what if It was a blastoderm, like with the ring around the bullseye? When incubating the blastodisc will still "grow" in size even if it isn't fertilized. It isn't actually growing, it's spreading out from the warmth. This can happen when eggs have been resting on a counter as well. I've had many eggs that looked fertilized to me but I don't have a rooster.
That is the most acurate description of both a dad and an older sister I will have ever heardSo...the thing with dads is....they will always say no, but then when the animal is around you will secretly notice them playing with them![]()
What kind of eggs?Question: I set eggs on the 16th... I don't think that counts for the hatch-a-long right?
