I had two doing this. One of them, Amber, is nearly blind, so I removed all egg pieces and replaced it with a golf ball. She pecked it on it for days and finally decided eggs were no longer breakable.Sorry, I should have been a bit more specific about that...yes, first eliminate feed being an issue and if it continues happening then culling the culprit is best option.

Another I had do this later on, I put a fake egg in the nest (wasn't sure who was doing it, all I know is this one wasn't blind so I doubted the golf ball would work) and let her try to break that. Whoever it was, she actually knocked the egg out of the house entirely and worked on breaking it in the yard too. Ended up breaking her of the habit.
