Welcome!

Thanks for hatching with us even if it is late for Easter.
Setting them tomorrow is perfect.
Thank you! I was getting worried. I want to maximize my chances, but at the same time, having the kids and everybody be home for the hatch is more important, so I'll wait until tomorrow. The incubator has been up and running for 2 days now, getting ready.

Thanks everyone :) We have the generator going now so the brooders and incubators are all good and toasty. Here's the culprit:

Lovely windy days
Around the back of the house, there’s always a wicked wind that piles up snow, leaves and anything else around. I did just get some surprising things picked up by the back door, but the things I expected to be flying around (charcoal grill) are fine. I don’t even see any downed branches.

Removed clear eggs from incubator, which puts me at having just three left. While I hope I get 3 chicks, I haven't had great luck with hatching bantams and am guessing I'll be lucky to end up with one or two silkies from this batch once everything is done.

I swung by feed store and picked up a few of their bantam chicks (plus a RIR "pullet" that was favoring a leg) before they potentially sold out. While I was aiming for mostly silkies, I'll make do with what I presume are bantam cochins to pad my extra-small raptor flock. 😄

Got to love those staggered hatches. Somehow I always end up doing that!
I would love to see photos of your Polkies! 🥰 I assume these are polish/silkie mixes? I have one that was an "accident" as I mistakenly added one of the polish eggs to a silkie hatch. This little chick is now one month old, super sweet and much friendlier than the pure silkies.

Yes! They're Polish/Silkies. This will be the only hatch of them since the Silkie hens have now been separated with a Silkie gentleman instead of the Polish, lol.

I haven't taken a bunch of pictures yet but here are a few of the first babies out to hold you over. :D
