I have six in there right now that are either clear or look like they started and quit... and I haven't had the heart to remove them yet. But I know I'll have to soon. I don't want them to explode but there's a part of me that wants to have hope they would do something even though my brain tells me... nope they aren't going to develop. 😅
I do that too.

LOL, Prince and his two ladies got to go out this morning. I've expanded the area that is hot wired so they have more room to find what they want.. Just after this video Mara the BCM passed through the fencing, Prince followed but hit the fence and got poofed.. He immediately went back through and into his pen.. Sure is dangerous out there!

How long have they been in there? No veins developing at all, or blood ring from an early quitter?
They've been in since the 13th at noon. I see no veins in four for sure. One might be a blood ring. The sixth looks kind of like the yolk is twice as dark as it should be and is busted inside. 😬 That one is making me nervous, but all the eggs I put in on the 13th that have life inside are quite developed by now.

(I also have three maybes that I put in on the 24th to replace a few of the quitters I thought I had then. No veining on those either, but I'm also going to leave them in for a while just in case because they are so new.)

So... we had bad storms come through yesterday. I was concerned we would lose power, but we didn't. (Whew.) I checked on the chickens and locked them in a little early before the storms hit (the clouds made it dark so they went to roost). When I left, everything was fine, but when I went out this morning... Layla had apparently gotten so freaked out by the storm that she came down off the roost. It looked like she flew onto the nesting area and then flew the length of the hen house, straight into the wall, and killed herself. When I found her this morning, she was already stiff. I hatched her last July. Freak accident, but I don't know what else could have happened. Kinda heartbroken right now.

On the bright side, I candled my eggs this morning and I see life in 16 I think.
So sorry you lost one of yours.. I know how heartbreaking it is... Especially one you hatched.
:hugs

I wouldn't mind a paper bag, too 🤣
Reading of pipping, wiggling eggs, hatching and seeing all the amazing and cute pictures and videos on here plays kind of a role with that, too, lol.
Sniff-question: Do you sniff every single egg or do you sniff the air in the incubator?

I only sniff eggs that I'm unsure about. lol

I sniff the air inside the incubator and then if I smell anything weird, I'll investigate. I've never had one explode (yet). Last year I left some eggs in there over a week after all of the others hatched to make sure they weren't going to hatch. Accidentally cracked a few when I was taking the incubator outside to discard the eggs, but they never exploded. After reading threads on here, I realize how lucky I was! 😬
Oh yeah the possibility of exploding is currently one of my biggest fears and worst nightmares 😅😭
To be honest I am just hoping the shell of the green and blue eggs is perhaps so strong (because one can hardly look in them) they wouldn't explode that fast...but I kind of know this is just stupid and their opacity hasn't to do anything with the strength/density of the shell 🙄

pull the ones that didn't develop veins, and the one with the blood ring. They are not going anywhere if they haven't done it so far. They could have been unfertilized (4). How do you intend to turn the lastest eggs, when the incubator goes into lockdown for 3 days? And the humidity will be higher than normal for that period of time as well.
