Last year i had few chikcs with this problem, i fix most od them but I asking myself why that happend and is it conected with humidity or?
I found out from people here that it could be because they got too cold. (Had a power outage in the middle of incubation.) I had two with that problem, but it wasn't that bad, so I didn't make a shoe. This is one of mine:

It straightened out within a week but it took this one a few months to get full use of the one foot.

No last year i had all perfect , perfect humidity temp, no power faild, perfectly stored..And this time I have eggs from fridge , i take them to my student room started incubating them for 9 days then..moved incubator 1 hour driveing to home.. haha so i hope that Will not cause this problem or anye other am little bit woried beacause i made really big mess with this 10 eggs 😔 but somehow they are all still alive when i Candle them 🤔

Oh my, uh... I may need to go check mine then. I don't remember where, but I thought 75% was for hatching and 45 - 60 was for incubating. 😬 Oops!! Or is it different for duck eggs? (Mine are chicken.)
65 to 75% is good for lockdown

We are up to 5 ducklings now.
I think the remainder of the ducks other than 1 Cayuga might be DIS, but we will see 🤞

I did have to assist. I think because they were a bit early, they were struggling, and also because of the drop in humidity last night, they were all a little stuck. Plus, duck shells are so thick and hard to break! All but one of them seem healthy, and the weak one may perk up overnight.

no pips from chickens yet, so gave them all a quick candle and there’s still movement and veins in them, so hoping they’ll start to pip/hatch tomorrow or Thursday!

So out of my DIY bator, 28 of 30 could still make it. I had 1 quit early, I think another one gave up the past few days. I candled this morning and I think I’m going to be okay. In about 12 hours, I’m going to raise humidity and lockdown.
The other box still has about 44 still cooking on the rotisserie. I will be building a couple more brooder the next few days, and I have picked up lumber/supplies for a new coop and run.

The chicks have started hatching! 3 out so far.

These are the eggs the seller casually mentioned had been under her broody hens. She wasn't sure how long.

I guessed +5 days on the first one to hatch and +48hours on the ones that hatched overnight. I still have 5 egg to go. They were set Friday evening but there's no way they'll make it that long. 2-3 are already internally pipped. They'll probably hatch Thursday.

Unfortunately there was a ton of quitters in this group. I'm attributing it to moving after partial incubation. Then sitting on my counter for a day before going in the incubator. I added the eggs with the most growth right away. Those are the ones hatching now. But I'm guessing almost all of them (2 dozen) had some degree of incubation before I picked them up.

Did she give you the eggs? Because I wouldn't have wanted to pay for eggs that had been partially incubated... :th
Your chicks are really cute. :love

I paid. $5 for 2 dozen. I bought hatching eggs from her before, in January, that worked out well. I texted asking if I could come get some eggs. She said sure. They were already in the cartons ready to go when I showed up. As I was getting in my car she mentioned the bit about the broodys. :eek:I should have just handed them back and gotten eggs elsewhere but I didn't realize how many eggs had been affected. Lesson learned.

She a very nice lady. I'm confident if I mentioned what happen she would feel terrible and replace the eggs or refund my money. Since this was just a fun hatch, and don't need more chickens, I'm letting this one go.

Removed the egg turners, put in cardboard dividers to seperate different types of chicks (so I'll know who's who), and upped humidity. Officially in lockdown! (A little early granted - in case the bantams or Icelandics decide to come before Easter.) 🤞

P.S.- I may be addicted, I've lined up goose eggs for after the chickens hatch.... and considering trying to hatch some from my ducks (have seen Emilio giving the ladies the business since it's been rainy)....and my neighbor has guinea fowl....and....and.... 🤪
