My hatch is complete, 5 of 9(9 where in lockdown) hatched, 4 on Saturday and 1 Sunday morning the best hatch I've had with American Breese. I have 1 with splayed legs how long should I leave the splint on? it's been a while since I have had one like this. Thank you for any help or opinions.

Thank youCongratulations on getting your best hatch American Breese hatch!![]()
I've only dealt with fairly mild splay leg but they tend to walk normally after 24-48 hours of wearing the leg brace. I'd give it a couple days with it then see how it is doing without it and if it isn't better reapply for another 24-48 hours and so on.
It's really amazing how adaptable they are.. I wondered the same thing when Prince had his wing amputated.. but he gets along just fine...Thanks, my barn yard mix. I'm so glad I joined along. The night I locked down, my rooster was injured defending his flock. He is definitely going to survive, but Idk if he will be able to produce.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm, chocowats!First time hatching my own chicks and having fun playing "Who's your daddy". Here are eleven of my twelve... couldn't figure out which one I was missing... I believe another chipmunk...hehe... I'm afraid I have a LOT of roosters... we will see. I'm ready to hatch more...lol... this is addictive! We had Speckled Sussex, Easter Egger, Bielefelder and Red Sex link eggs with Bielefelder, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and Egyptian Fyoumi Roos. I didn't want Egyptian Fyoumi (he was a surprise chick) because they don't do well in Alaska...but so far, he seems to be doing great and enjoying the ladies, obviously! LOL
These sure look a lot like some I hatched last month. Yep, chipmunk babies. The ones with green feet will lay a colored egg. Hopefully. Most likely the mint green or olive color.First time hatching my own chicks and having fun playing "Who's your daddy". Here are eleven of my twelve... couldn't figure out which one I was missing... I do this. It's so true! I hatch a lot of chicks every year but I'm always tempted to keep some...or all, lol!
Most of mine have already gone to new homes. I'm down to 11 of 54 chicks that hatched and I'm trying to decide which one's to keep! Lol, I may have to grow them out and keep my favorites.
Love this!My guy ( who I would remind all is anti chickens) went pick up my order of faverolles at Cackle (it's less than a mile away from us) I asked him to ask if they had any extra chanteclers because they been unavailable for order since late Feb. He came back with my favs, 2 chanteclers and they talked him into a handful of large breed pullets so looks like I have 2 barred rocks, 2 laced Wyandottes 1 laced Cochin and he saw silkies sitting on display and said toss in a silkieand they tossed in 2 lol so yeah he wants a house chicken lol
