12x12 Titan brooder he.

We moved the girls into their bigger, better brooder (4' diameter kiddie pool surrounded by hardware cloth, and some scrap lightweight foam sheeting that was packing material in a big box laid over the top to prevent escapes...they're trying to fly!).
It took them a while to understand the heater plate (even after I put them under it), but now they're all snuggled under it, quiet and seemingly happy... except for one little guy. I'll check back on them in a half-hour or so and see if that same lone hen is out from under. Which could mean, I guess, that he's just hardier...though I worry he was kicked out.View attachment 2114219
I like Your set up with the pool!! That’s smart!!

The girls are really enjoying their new, spacious kiddie pool home! And they love the brooder plate. When I go to check on them, they're always all snuggled under it, but when I take the covering off and talk to them, they come out and eat and drink and scoot around. It seems so much more like nature's way of doing things.. a big flat yellow mama hen!

They're really growing their wing feathers... they scoot and flap and almost fly a little! Eight days old and still so cute.

We have used both the brinsea and rent-a-coop heating plates and loved them both. The rent-a-coop seemed to be a little warmer to the touch, but not hot. The chicks loved it. We actually moved them into the coop at 2 weeks old with the heating plate and they are doing well. Night time temps are in the upper 30s-low 40s and daytime temps in the 60s.

i will never use another lamp myself.

Wow!!! They change so much in 8 days!!!! How many do you have? My babies seem so content under their yellow hen too. Nothing like tractor supply where they’re all peeping. It’s been so fun. Thank you for your photos!!!

We have a dozen! Some people told us that was too many, but we easily eat 3 dozen eggs a week... and will happily eat more if we have them! I forgot..how many did you say you have?
I got mine from a little local feed store... we all showed up at 7:45 or earlier, waiting for the boxes to come from the post office... the owner walked in with two little boxes and the cheeping was deafening! <3

We just hatched 11 on Monday/Tuesday from our incubator!!!!! It has been such an incredible experience. We can only keep 4 sadly since we live inside city limits, but with 6 kids, we go through the eggs, too. At least a few dozen a week as well. I’m so excited to be on this road, and I’m truly becoming the crazy chicken lady!!!! Here are our cuties at 1 day old!! I wish I could post a video.... we “call” them and they all come running out of the brooder plate. So so so cute. 🤗🐥🤗🐥
