I just got back from Cubscout camp with mu son and 13 of our hens have really swollen crops. My husband was taking care of them. He fed them the same feed and kept them on the same schedule. The only difference is he said that twice they were out of water by the tim ehe got home. It's never been a problem before b/c I have always been home (we are buying more waterers tommorrow). Is that what has caused this? THeir crops are tight. They had also ran out of grit while I was away. I out out more grit and tons of water. Does anyone know what I should do now?
THanks for your help.

They probably just over ate. They sometimes do that, especially if there is a change in routine. Sometimes if they don't have feed available 24/7 some birds will pig out not knowing when their next meal is. Just make sure they have grit and water and they'll probably be fine by morning. It takes them a while to digest all that food, but I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on them, but really they most likely over ate and they'll be fine.

Give it till morning, they should be empty by then. Missing grit for a week or so won't bother them too much espeically if they had it before, they store some in their crops. As for water, I bet they are fine, just ate too much today.

Ok, it's day two and their crops have gone done somewhat but they are kind of squishy. Will they still go all the way down or are they infected?
