Hmmmm, the man we got them doesn't have any dark brahms. I may drive Doucle over to see what he thinks. I'm sad about the roo possibility but I guess it happens.

That's a female. She is on the darker side of her coloring. Yours looks like a dark brahma mix, that explains the darker color.

If that were a male, you'd see black feathers coming in without penciling.

Here's my female, only females have the penciling of the feathers.

All my hens were red in the face and combs at a very early age.
