135th APA National Convention

For this show, your birds don't need papers or testing.

You WILL need to enter them ASAP. Email Dave Anderson ([email protected]) for a Premium Book with rules, schedules, maps, etc. Entries are supposed to be postmarked by the 10th/rec'd by the 14th, so you will probably have to enter via email (I'm pretty sure you can, but you'll have to ask Dave about it).

Next Saturday I am going to a poultry show and I would like to purchase a bearded Silkie. I have not decided on a color yet. I would like a pet but I feel that if I were up to it, that maybe it would be fun to show a bird. I was educated somewhat in Veterinary medicine and my major was natural history.

I have had chickens before and I have raised canaries, Lady Gouldian Finches, Lovebirds, and assorted fishes. I have also done many hawk rescues.

I feel that I am not exactly stupid on the ups and downs on keeping and breeding animals. Therefore, I might like to invest in a more expensive bird.

Can you tell me about what I can expect to pay for a show quality bird?

All right everyone... I'm leaving tomorrow morning for our road trip to Ventura and will be out of touch from here on out! For those attending, look for the pregnant redhead with husband and toddler in tow! I'll probably spend most of my time hanging out around the araucanas.

And yes -- for those who can't attend, I'll make sure to take lots of pics so you can live vicariously!
