Same problem most of my eggs comes with bad air cells so i have them 48 hours to sit prior incubation.. lets hope for best❤️
I find if you set them standing up, often the detached air cell will settle just fine.

The detached air cell is a way bigger issue if you have to incubate the eggs on their sides.

So it looks like the official number for me is:
6 Welsh harlequin eggs - all developing at this point
6 Appenzellar spitzhauben
6 Seramas
5 English Orpington EE (Orp roo over CCl hen)
5 English Orpington
Total: 28 eggs

My prediction is that the seramas, spitz and EE will all be fertile. The orps.....not so much. They need butt trims and cleanings.

I also gave 15 Silver laced orpington hatching eggs from Carolina Rare chicks to @Faraday40 to hatch for me this week. She has a phenomenal hatch rate! Crossed fingers on this one!:fl
WOW!
Wishing you a good hate rate & a couple volunteer broody hens to care for all the upcoming chicks!

If I had a broody hen, I'd probably have started some bantam eggs. The only maybe-broody so far this year turned out to be just hiding in nesting boxes because she overestimated her popularity with the boys and was avoiding them (she quickly decided the boys weren't that bad when I tested her commitment). 😅
I'm using my incubator to start warmth-loving seeds (at lowest temp setting), so it's unavailable for hatching purposes atm.
