OK I unfortunately started a day late because of a death in the family so hopefully some hatch early

A day late is fine!

I need to clear out a few eggs so I can use the egg turner!!!!!

So... I am chomping at the bit.

Sadly though... I only have a few white eggs ... the rest are all blue, so hard to see into.

I really thought that by today I would see a LITTLE something... in the white ones... but I see nothing!

I am worried that ALL white ones are clears! They are lovely clean and large... but the first of the season... so could be infertile.

I need to make room for my govee too, just wish it was a tiny little one! But I like to see it when I walk by without obsessing over my phone. Super surprised all my eggs are easy to candle! They’re all olive-ish to blueish. A bit porous for my liking, but ah well. Good luck on your hatch!

After i was geting males for females for years i decided to learn.. now they are afraid of me at fairY where they sell hens and chiks.. i also check hens pelvic bones now to see will she be good layer before i buy her. Nah no more messing up with this guy

Are you talking about the space between the pointy pelvic bones or the space between the keel bone and the pelvic bones?

That is the list of everyone that has replied to this thread as of a few minutes ago. Will those of you that set eggs, or are setting eggs, please let me know how many you set. Some of you have already sent me a conversation, so you're okay. Everyone else, please let me know asap because we cannot finalize the Guess How Many Eggs Will Be Set! contest until we get your set numbers. We also can't open the Guess How Many Eggs Will Hatch! contest until we know how many were set.

For this hatch I set 31 black Pene chicken eggs to hatch on Easter Sunday.
I had chicks hatch today and another clutch due in a week.

Pictures of the eggs? I would love to see how dark they are.

They aren't the darkest IMO, but these are the only hens I have to work with.

This is in a very bright room, they look a little darker in person.

Yes! I’m setting them tomorrow (Tues) at noon and will let you know how many total then. I need to check to see if there are any more eggs laid tomorrow before then.

I set on Wednesday 23rd under my broody so I didn't think it counts as I was too early?

Both ..between pointy pelvic bones in great layers you put 3 fringers for sure.. and between keel bone and pelvic bones 4 fringers or whole hand ( depends on Hand size) but when you have 10 hens in front you you Will easy see diference ....doing it just on one will left you nah is she wide or not.. but do it on few hens and you will spot difference
