It was warm enough to check the eggs under my broody. Good thing too, two of the other girls broke in and left eggs in her nest. All eggs set under the broody looked dark with signs of life. I think they may be a few days ahead, and candling outside in the sun is not very accurate.

I’m done trimming vent plumage for the night. This is what all look like now:

Well... bother...

I am worried that most? All? Of the many, many bantam eggs are infertile????

But they are BLUE eggs, so I never feel confident.

My 2 white eggs.. you can see the embryo so clearly. You can see it wiggle!

So... I tossed ONE blue egg... that I am mostly confident is infertile.. and all the rest stay in the incubator.

Sigh

So right now I have a box of 8 week old chickies outside, a playpen of 4ish week olds in my washroom, and a playpen of bitty bantams in my kitchen. Running a bit out of space 😅 Then I found this AMAZING wooden crate while running errands this morning!!! I ran home to grab some rope and it was still there when I was able to go back for it, super excited they let me have it for freeeeeeee
