I had what was it? 21 blue eggs at start and ONE is fertile and growing.....ONE.

So maybe I shouldn't be surprised??? Except it hasn't been all that cold. 20s and even 30s.... so... I AM surprised.
Oh my!! You are still in full blown winter! It’s supposed to be 90 here tomorrow 😩😩 I’d take your climate all day every day! Someday my husband is going to live where I want to and his weeny Californianess will learn to love the real cold for a change haha.

I’m sorry your eggs are letting you down! That one will most certainly be special though! 😍 Blue shells really do make it tough to candle—I would never have guessed it!

Well I learn more about developing baby eggs every time I do this! The egg from yesterday I was sure seemed to have quit because I saw no movement and not a lot of vessels…looks twice as developed today and was squirming all over inside the egg! Sheesh! And one that I was pretty confident would make it…seems to have quit :-( I think I saw the outer edge of a blood ring and the shadow in the egg isn’t a normal black shape of a growing chick. :-( I left it in and the other one that looks iffy, because they are blue shelled eggs and I’m not able to see as much. Out of 18 eggs set for the EHAL, I’m down to 9-10 still developing on Day 11. This definitely thrills my husband far more than me 😏 I just hope a few of the d’Anvers make it! My d’Uccles had very poor hatch rates…I thought small eggs were supposed to Fair better shipped than the bigger eggs, but my experience has been rather opposite of that! Anyway, fingers crossed!

My birds have poor fertility until well into spring, so I can commiserate there even if I live in a slightly warmer climate. My Easter hatches are usually duds.
Best of luck with your next hatch. :fl

Thanks!

Yeah... I haven't ever tried a set so early in the year.

I was just told that it could be the daylight.

Not yet quite enough of it.

I had some pretty promising peeks this past weekend. I'm so anxious!
