UPDATE!!!! The chicks are now approx 7 weeks old and doing SO WELL!!! We ended up having 3 chicks that were having seizures and 'gasping' so we made a few changes and saw improvement almost overnight! Thankfully, all of them are still with us happy, healthy and strong! Thank you EVERYONE for your help! Below is what we did!
1. we gave them chick starter feed (organic, non-medicated) which is balanced in protein, nutrients, etc instead of the grains and seeds that were mentioned above
2. We gave them mackeral for selenium for their neurological system
3. We gave them a liquid multivitamin (I bough a bird multi from pet store) and added it to their water all day
4. Upped their probiotics
5. Lastly, we raised their heat lamp much higher as we realized they might have been too warm because their stools were loose and they werent sleeping as close together as they used to.
After reducing heat and giving them a balanced diet with extra vitamins, minerals and healthy fats, the next day their seizures went down from every few minutes to a few times per day and the following they they completely. stopped. they also were more energetic and their stools were fully formed with the white cap (thanks to the new feed). They started sleeping huddled up again and began growing VERY fast from there! Now they are outside in a nice coop in a chicken run that we made for them and eating grass, starter feed, worms, buckwheat, clover and some fruit and THRIVING! Thanks again!
