I had set 20 eggs, 16 made it to lockdown, 14 hatched.
What is my hatch rate?
70% ? 87.5% ?

Of the original 20, the four that had no development, were the ones
that the thermometer was sitting on. Poor choice of placement on
my part, but I have learned something, so not a waste.

I had ordered black sex link eggs, and pullet eggs were sent.
I had a great hatch with the pullet eggs, but I am curious.
Three of them are obviously roos, black with the white spot on
their head, one is solid black, a female. The others are black and
smokey gray mixed, no obvious sex link characteristics. I guessing
there is a mystery roo involved! (they look like Barred Rock babies)

I am obviously pleased with the hatch of the pullet eggs, but.....
what did I get?

Hmmmmm, I really think pictures would help.

Congrats on the babies! That's a great hatch rate for shipped eggs! Where did you order from?

Whoops: edited to ask....did you move your thermometer at all or leave it in the same spot the whole time? I move my small thermometer every few days. The one with the cord, I rotate the eggs under it with ones from the other side of the 'bator probably every 3 days. Wonder if that might help you next time?

Hello,

Yes, that is a good way to put it. Fertility and Hatchabilty is as accurate as you can rate it. Nevertheless, those are really high numbers for this time of year : )
