First time incubating and also candling! I candled all 20 eggs and I could barely see anything, but I was able to learn to see the air cells in all 20 eggs.

I have 6 light tan eggs that I was able to see more clearly through, the rest of the eggs need a stronger light. Out of the 6 tan eggs I was able to see what I believe was early veining in 4 and I believe the embryo eye and maybe veining in the other 2.

I was able to get some luck looking at a few light blue eggs as well. Unfortunately I think I was able to ID a blood ring in one of them, but i’m hoping a stronger light (or smell) will confirm that before I toss anything.

I guess I get to be in after all! Thanks @casportpony!

We set 31 assorted eggs in the new Maticoopx, all but one were fertile. Of course my favourite hen’s egg was the dud 😩 We pulled three other blood rings I believe. There were two that I’m keeping an eye on as well. The night we candled (March 22 I think? Gotta start writing things down… The eggs are date labelled luckily) we added 3-4 more bantam eggs

WTB (hopefully under a BCM or Welsummer, possible Polish)
Sicilian Buttercup mixes
Bantam crosses: silkie (likely pure), Polish 🤞🏼, porcelain D’Uccle (possibly pure), maybe Cochin and Light Brahma

Did 2 early candles this week. Worried about the air cells on these shipped eggs. 14/17 are growing. 3 still have really bad air cells (rolling and saddle.
Here are pics of some of my saddled eggs that have hatched.

Well…I candled my first batch of eggs last night and ended up pulling out 13 of them. 9 were clear/infertile and the other 4 were early quitters with blood rings developing. Most of these were older eggs that were stored longer than a week prior to incubation.
