I have always heard and read that BO are so friendly and sweet and the best chicken for kids because of their gentle nature but this girl is NOT any of those things. She's not mean or aggressive but she just screams bloody murder if you hold her and is such a drama queen. I can't imagine how she would deal with small children. She just seems like she is getting more and more like she doesn't want anyone to ever touch her. It's a shame. My 7 year old used to love sitting outside with her on his lap. Nothing has changed for her so I'm confused why she has started acting this way, she honks loudly and acts like the Queen of Sheeba. It's a good thing she's cute!

Maybe mine just has an attitude problem? I dunno. Maybe she is trying to be the dominant one and act more like a rooster since there is no rooster and she pretty much rules the roost? Well we still pick her up and talk to her, carry her around, and force our annoying affection for her. She acts like a teenager. I swear she would roll her eyes if she could and say ewww mom stop hugging me in public ughhhhh!

Maybe she will be better once she starts laying.
I'm not looking forward to her ever being broody!

I hate to be a pest but are you guys SURE she looks like a hen? Zia is on the left in this picture with our other BO who is 10 almost 11 weeks.
Today Zia charged at a neighborhood cat and made a weird noise. The cat just stared at her like she didn't know what to think about that. Then I had to chase Zia around the yard for a good 15 minutes before she would coop up.... sigh... the others are so good. Maybe she's just a the problem child.

I raise BO's and some of my hens acted like that during the teenage period. They will warm up to you again when they start to lay. Some of them have done the squat and fluff for me. That means your the head roo lol.

Thanks that gives me hope. Today my husband said - " I don't know how much more of her attitude I can deal with!" He was so tired of trying to get her to coop up in this summer heat. It was a about 100 degrees today

We basically have to corner her and herd her in whereas the others just follow us around and let us pick them up. She screams at us and jumps and flies all around like she has lost her mind. I was shocked about the cat confrontation. The poor cat looked so confused.

teenagers... ughhhhhh

Give lots of treats! It's great if you can find a red measuring cup and feed them treats with that. I trained mine to the red measuring cup and now whenever they get a glimpse of it they come running!

Not sure why she's being a brat, my BO is the sweetest and gentlest of my chickens. She may just be on the top of the pecking order and assuming the manly duties. She definitely looks female though.

Give her some time, if she is getting worse you can separate her from the flock and put her in a cage for 3 days...that might calm her down.
