16 eggs, 3 species, 1 homemade incubator: Will it be done?

I can also pretty much guarantee that you will not need to use an incubator (unless you want to) with one around. I give my group of pullets another couple weeks before they start trying. There are signs, but so far one egg a day from each of them for well over a month and so long as I toss them out of the nesting box, they stay out.
Kaiya, their mother - not so much. Took seven days in a rabbit hutch to break her last year. She's bonkers.
I need a good broody like that!

And... YAY!!!! Another one hatched!!! You're keeping the pullets, yes?
I want to. I am not sure yet if my parents will let me.
I am buying another D'Uccle pullet in leu of my late rooster so I'm not certain they will let me keep more.
Patience is very likely to stay, though; my mom is in love with her.

She really is great - she takes care of herself too. Not one of those nutters that practically starve while sitting. She gets up about every other day, screeching, and runs and hammers a bunch of food and water, takes a couple monster craps and back to the nest she goes.

I'd love to try D'Uccles sometime. I've heard nothing but great things.
Glad to hear the first hatchling is staying!

I've got a pretty first rate roo right now - Marilyn Manson. He's a wonderful fellow, but his four brothers lost their heads. Nasty little buggers.
Good to hear that there are mellow breeds.

Edited to add: My rooster is a Bantam Cochin. So yes, a fake rooster. I think I rather prefer the fakes roos over the real ones though.

Here is my *fake* rooster!
