The posture is based on this photo, but I didn’t use it exclusively as a reference because I don’t know who took it and copyright blah blah. So the anatomy is off. Anyway, this isn’t a science lol. He looks more like a Hawaiian mutt than a BCM to me. View attachment 1416951

My question, dear chicken folk, is what color I should make him. Should I stick with original black copper Marans colors (I like how it’s vibrant but has no golds in it), or should I go with these colors I found last night (knowing the anatomy is way off for this and I don’t know what breed this is.. is this a BCM too? Or some other option. I’m so bad with breeds and colors and my husband is no help haha. I haven’t invested THAT much time in this drawing (maybe two movie’s worth) but I still want it to be somewhat accurate to life.

What medium are you using for color? I have some really cool metallic oil pastels (coppers and such) that look really neat over dark colors.

Bad news from when I got home:
My little bro left the incubator open practically all day. The eggs were all very cold to the touch.
A quick candle showed only the duck eggs obviously moving....

I would not worry about this for more than one minute.


Think about how the mom hen gets off the nest daily.
