16-mo old BO hen internal layer? update: Paris necropsy pics (graphic)

Sickiesilkie seems to be doing well. It took her a few days outside to start wandering around and acting more like a chicken ( well, acting like a silkie LOL). She seems to have gained the weight back on. Tonight I did notice her butt was pooey, but it was regular poo, not sickly poo. I'm keeping fingers crossed. If it was EYP, well, to my knowledge she hasn't laid an egg yet.
At least now we know what they will eat when not feeling well. Better than them starving. So, put on your little white nursey cap, and feed the little princess her blueberries.

Hi dlhunicorn. Thanks for checking up on us.

Paris was eating normally until yesterday, and even had a pretty full crop. The water with electrolytes goes without saying. This is the first day she hasn't been eating crumbles. If she doesn't perk up by tomorrow morning, I will go get the parrot food. I can only do things after work. (Today I had a break in my schedule and ran to the feed store for syringes.) Hopefully she will be okay until I can get to the pet store. I have off on Wednesday, so can spend a lot more time with syringe feeding, or even tube feeding, if necessary.

Paris, hang in there baby! Stay strong for one more day!!
Here, I'll show you pics of a cute little man to perk you up:

He is a cute little man! I'll show her next time I have her sitting in my lap at the computer. Right now she's comtemplating a bowl of wet crumbles.

I've been away a few days..and am so sorry your Paris isn't doing well again..

have you thought about changing antibiotics? maybe to Tylan?
at this point, maybe Baytril would help her more then the Pen-G..

Big pat on the back for going the extra miles for your Paris.
fingers crossed.

Sammi, I have definitely been thinking about changing antibiotics. I was concerned that the bacteria left from the first infection were more resistant to Pen G. I gave Paris a full 7 days of Pen G last time. Nothing should have lived, but something did.

Is Baytril an oral or injectable antibiotic?

LilBizzy, at this point, the blueberries are mainly all Paris will eat. She stares at the crumbles with an occasional peck. I syringe feed her fluids and liquid calcium. Tomorrow I will get some baby parrot mash and a tube for tube feeding.

Steffanie,
you so kindly answered my post on listless Polly (who is revovering) and I found this thread about Paris. I read the whole thing! - and just wanted to say how impressed I am with the care you provide and the courage you have in dealing with your hen's plight. I keep my fingers crossed for you and Paris and will check back often for progress reports.

Thanks, Pampered Hen. I'm glad I could help. (I think I only offered pics of poo on your thread.

Paris is still looking about the same, and is due for another injection in about an hour. Her poops are still watery, but less yellow, more green.

I'm going to head to the pet store now to get some baby parrot feed and some air tubing for feeding her if she hasn't started on her own by tomorrow. I'm bribing her any which way I can. Tomorrow I will be home, so can give her whatever time she needs.

Ugh, tube feeding. I do hope is won't resort to that. Paris is totally lucky to have you. Poor girl. How is she coming along?
