16 weeks boy or girl???

I a newbie (feb 2009) but I must add that my RIR did the same thing - huge comb, suspicious (to me) hackle feathers...except for the color, looked just like yours. We held off naming any chicks until we were sure. Well, I have five birds and five eggs most days and no crowing. "Red" now looks very hen, that big comb is flopped over so far I wonder how she sees sometimes.
So, hold off the axe until later, IMHO.

I don't have experience with this breed, but I think she's a girl too. Her saddle feathers, hackle feathers & tail feathers all look female. Her comb is huge, but it could just be because she's getting closer to laying. My australorp was the same way - very large wattles and comb at a young age, but definitely female.

What kind of chicken is she? I see you have anconas and she does have the white earlobes, but is not mottled. I looked up anconas online and the hens do have huge combs, just like yours does. I'm kind of assuming the females of her breed also have the large combs.

I have an Andalusian pullet that looks similar to your pic so I agree with those who say it's a girl. My Andalusian has a huge comb that's very serratedand double wattles and my neighbor accused her of being a him. But she's not. I think you have an Andalusian cross pullet. I say cross because her leg color is not blue.

I think it's a girl with a really big comb. The first pic of just the body, for sure a hen.
