16 weeks boy or girl???

Hi,

New person here, first time posting, but I've been lurking for quite a while. I think the first bird in question is a pullet. At 19 weeks old a leghorn can be getting ready to lay. My white leghorn girls combs were always larger than the other pullets, but were a girl baby yellowish color. Then over the past two or so weeks, their combs have grown tremendous amounts and turned red and are now starting to flop a bit. They started laying a few days ago and they're about 22 weeks old.

Definately hen! ( a leghorn hen) it is normal for a leghorn hen to have a large comb, her skinny lil legs and saddle feathers all indicative of hen.

what is that gorgeous hen on the left? give us some more eye candy ( pics) on that beaut!

I don't have experience with this breed, but I think she's a girl too. Her saddle feathers, hackle feathers & tail feathers all look female. Her comb is huge, but it could just be because she's getting closer to laying. My australorp was the same way - very large wattles and comb at a young age, but definitely female.

What kind of chicken is she? I see you have anconas and she does have the white earlobes, but is not mottled. I looked up anconas online and the hens do have huge combs, just like yours does. I'm kind of assuming the females of her breed also have the large combs.

Leghorns do get big combs though. even the hens

Wow, what kind of bird is that to the left of your roo? Beautiful feathers!

oh she is just a mutt... wyandotte X something

The largest combed roosterish looking bird I had was the first to lay and egg.
I had to rename him/her.
The feathers do not look rooster. I say girl! but obviously, i am not a good judge of that.
let's say girl and be happy until you find out otherwise!
