She is a Leghorn, my 1 yr old leghorn laid her first egg at 18 wks last year. Maybe its the breed.....Or maybe because they love me soooo much they try hard to please me. LOL

I've got a 12 week old Silver Laced Polish who just started laying...

I was so surprised...she laid an egg practically in my lap. She's very quickly becoming our lap chicken!! AND the egg is BLUE GREEN....her legs are blue. She is just beautiful...I rescued her from the feed STORE!!

I read the white leghorns could start laying at 18 weeks so that is only about 2 weeks early. I have two girls that are right 17 weeks right now. I hope i get eggs from them pretty soon! It will be my first ones! I would def keep that one as breeding stock for next years pullets, that is obviously a great layer.

2 of my barred rocks started laying at 16 weeks,
took me totally by surprise.
went out and gave all 3 of them a good pet on the head.
I am waiting for my Turkins to tell me if they are boys or girls, anyone know how to sex the ugly chickens?
