Lavender Orpington Shredded Gene

I hatched out 5 Lavender Orpingtons from eggs I received from a friend. it appears they ALL have the shredded gene showing up. Is it hard for the chickens with this gene to keep warm in the winter in our harsh South Dakota climate? I'm so bummed. I attached a couple of pictures of my 5 week old chicks where you can see the shredding on quite a few feathers.
