I'm surprised people are auctioning off chickens and eggs at all as it's pretty much, technically, illegal in most states. Here in Wisconsin any money spent on any betting or gambling other than in the casinos is illegal. I used to work for a metro police department though and you should have seen all of the football pools come football season. All of this stuff is small peanuts, so nobody cares.

Well... After weighing everything I have going on at the moment, I think I've talked myself down from this. I really need to focus on my classwork this semester and having chicks hatch just a few short weeks before finals just seems like a bad idea this year.

I'll be living vicariously through all of you who are hatching until I can get my first batches set for the year later on!

I'll be setting chicken eggs! Haven't done one of these in a while. I am setting in a classroom so have to set for them to hopefully hatch the day AFTER Easter (a school day). Hope that's still ok to join .

You may want to shoot for two days after - as it is quite common for them to start hatching on day 20! That will be so fun for your class!

Yes, good thoughts and we may set a few Bantams too so they'd likely be early. I think we're setting April 1. That way most will (hopefully) hatch on Monday and Tuesday 21st and 22nd. The kids get to see the chicks the rest of that week before spring break then we bring them safely to our homes. This is kindergarten so a (well monitored) week in the class is plenty . I usually hatch at home so this will stress me out a bit having the incubator at school but I think it will go well.

Depending on how things go, I may have to back out of this unfortunately. I'll wait until March 20th to give an answer
