I just purchased a total of 17 chicks from TSC. 11 of them are going to a friend who wants us to grow them for him. 6 of them we are keeping.

What we got:
-7 White Leghorns (pullets)
-1 Black Australorp (pullet)
-1 Light Brahma (pullet)
-1 Isa Brown (pullet)
-3 Silver Laced Wyandottes (straight run)
-4 bantams (straight run); one silkie, 2 booted bantams, and one unknown (possibly an old english game; all white)

Feel free to join me in sexing and identifying these as they grow.

Thank you! I’m so eggcited! :wee
I don’t know for sure yet, but the plan was to keep 3 Leghorns, 2 of the banties, and 1 SLW. Our friend is taking 11. We took 6 for ourselves but they will also be death replacements in case any of his die.

Chicks in question:

Silkie- is (s)he buff or white? ( she looks white to me but the lady said she’s either white or buff. I’d love a buff silkie… )

White Bantam- OEGB? She’s almost pure white compared to the leghorns. The leghorns have a yellow tint but she is almost completely white.

“Booted Bantams”- the lady at TSC said the two bantams with feathered feet are booted bantams and not d’uccles because they don’t have ear muffs or a beard, which I agree with. I’m just wondering, what will these two look like when they are older? Anyone have photos?

Could they possibly look something like this?

The bantams seem to be a tiny bit older than the rest of the chicks..

My booted bantams

(One is a calico one is gold sprangled and one (the gif) has a messed up comb. Probably bad genetics)

Where did you find a TSC with that much variety? Around here we are lucky if they have 1-2 breeds of pullets and 1-2 straight run. Usually they are all barred rock, white leghorns, and a yellow sex link. Have never seen silkies or australorps.
I’m in Western Massachusetts.
Usually they don’t have this much variety, but they just restocked their chicks on Thursday so maybe that explains some of it. Some TSC’s are small. Ours is large.

Usually there are only 2-3 different breeds. We got very lucky to choose from such a variety. They even had turkeys!
