19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

Pretty chickens! My leghorn is around 19-20 weeks and she hasn't started laying yet. She also seems to be developing a little slower than the others, perhaps because she is less dominant?

ok, i understand that i'm prob jumping into this thread a bit early. My batch of 19 Leghorn pullets are only 16 weeks old. I''ve read all of this thread i think, and have seen several reports of early layers.
Here are a couple pics of my girls. Most of them are clearly weeks away from laying. Combs and waddles are still small and pink. One of my girls (Floppy) is well developed and is coming closer to me then ever before, nearly following me around the coop.

Floppy with Celeste.
My girl, Daisy was 16 weeks. Her comb was so big and red that it was nearly flopping in her eyes, but you are close! Leghorns are so pretty! I have heard many accounts of them being flighty, but I handled Daisy and her 3 broodmates ALOT when they were day olds all the way till now and they are totally people friendly. Leghorns do tend to be flock leaders, Daisy is a leader except when Silver somes by, cuz she's older and much bigger...Old Lady Wyandotte

Yes, this! A couple of my girls were squatting for about 2 weeks and then all of a sudden I would walk through the yard and all of the chickens would squat (it looked like they were bowing, LOL!) as I walked by them.

Ahahahahaaa! It's so true! Sometimes, especially when I have treats they hurl themselves at my feet and squat so I darn near trample the silly things!!! LOLOL

I love my Leghorn btw, I would recommend them, my bf's daughter is 4 and she loves Daisy.

Any idea how long we can expect small eggs? It really don't matter, we are thrilled to get eggs period, but was just wondering.

Thanks

Hm, what type of hen(s) are laying? My Leghorn only layes small for a couple weeks and now they look pretty much like normal, store-sized eggs with occasional jumbo. My Americauna, Xena, however started at about 17 1/2 weeks and all have been pretty small. The BR and RIR eggs actually vary quite a bit at this point as they were the last two hens to jump on the egg laying bandwagon. So, it may depend slightly on breed but I have heard from several people that the eggs get bigger with age.

Is it normal for a newly laying pullet to be laying a double yolker every day?! My RIR has laid a double yolker size large egg on the scale every day for 4 days now! I wonder how long until she normalizes and her gets start getting officially bigger with a single yolk?

check out amber whites from dunlaps hatchery in calwell idaho....I love mine so sweet and pretty docile, "BETTY WHITE" layed at 19 weeks and has pretty brown eggs
So this is Bette White! Beautiful chicken! Yeah, all my girls came from Dunlap too via D&B Supply they are so friendly there. I actually had to go out to the hatchery back in June to deliver back the duck I had gotten. He turned out to be a drake, and drake with female hens is a BIG NO NO. Long story short, I was in search of a good home for him (Paul) and called the hatchery wondering if they might know someone. Turned out, a lady that worked there wanted him for her duck flock and so many people loved his friendly, docile personality, he is now the hatchery mascot! He struts around the lobby during the day when Sonya is at work and goes home with her at night! Haha! Great folks there, it was hard giving him up. I Also liked your comment about your Barred a few pages back, kinda surprised me because my BR, Petrie is a total wuss...she's the bottom of the order. Not too bright either, but I love her to death I think partly because she is so dopey

I like double yokers they are very interesthing ots like christmas for me every time i get one so far i have only gotten 2

Daisy's my double yolk queen. Xena layed a couple too except the funny thing is, her eggs didn't get a whole lot larger just 2 minute yolks crammed in a small egg, hahahaha!
