19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

Big Mama one of my RSL started squating yesterday. My other 4 girls her age, 2 RSL and 2 RIW don't even look close yet. I too have been out in the coop at least 3 times today and I am sure I will continue to do until that 1st egg arrives. This is our first time raising chickens and I can't wait until they all start laying. We have 18 hen (i think) and 1 cockerel, all ranging in ages from 17 wks to 4wks.
Mine have been laying since last November & December - and I STILL look for eggs at least twice a day. Sometimes 3x. The novelty really doesn't wear off, at least it still delights me enough to look all the time.

Of course nothing beats that tremdous thrill of the very first one

Sounds like you're very close to the happy-egg dance.

All the best

Really look around because we have been finding them in out of the ordinary places...found one today under the blackberry bushes... lol

Thanks, I have been. Mine don't free range all day, only a couple hours a few days a week and under my watch. Nothing in the run, coop or boxes. This is agonizing!

I suppose it will be that much sweeter when it happens. :)

Up to 4 eggs a day out of 6... And now all 4 are laying in the nesting box! Just need those last two!!!! They are smaller now but each day they get a little bigger... and the shells and yolks are sooo thick! Yum!!!

A dummy egg in the laying box is how i got my RIR to lay,she was 21 weeks and now she doesnt skip a day at all.

I just went out and noticed that they have kicked the dummy egg out of the box. I hope that that is because they want to put their own eggs there and not a sign of egg smashing to come!

January babies now seven months and NO eggs! Its funny for months every day faithfully I go and look for those eggs twice a day hoping to see just one....and nothing. It's becoming quite funny to me how excited one can be over EGGS! Truley gives me a refreahing chuckle. I feel like a kid sometimes, kinda nice though. When the day does come I can only imagine the reaction well all have.
