Hi all,
At the moment I have 2 fertile frizzle eggs under one of my broody Silkie hens... today is day 19 and one of the eggs has started chirping. I know that at this stage I probably shouldn’t be candling the eggs, but this afternoon as I let the broody hen off of her nest to go to the toilet that the other egg was slightly cooler... worried, I waited until nightfall and candled the eggs just to make sure it was alright.. it looks like it has still been developing over the past few days (the dark area inside the egg is much larger) but there is no movement within the egg... if there is no movement at all when candling, is there much chance that the egg is still alive?
Both eggs are under the hen now and I will not be disturbing her until after the hatch... should I be concerned about the second egg? And how many days should I keep it under the hen until I should discard it if there is no progress?
